Demeter House Directors

Rod and Linda Wardlaw

Since our founding in 2006, Demeter House has been dedicated to creating a warm and welcoming environment that feels like family. Built on the principles of care, respect, and mutual support, our ethos centers around fostering strong relationships and personal growth. We believe that every student deserves not only a high-quality education but also a sense of belonging, safety, and encouragement to explore their unique potential. Our motto is ‘To every child, a chance’.

At Demeter House, education goes beyond the classroom. We strive to nurture the whole person, focusing on emotional well-being, resilience, and life skills that equip our students for the challenges of the future. With a supportive community and a tailored approach to learning, we aim to inspire confidence, curiosity, and a love of lifelong learning in every individual.

Here, every student is offered a new beginning, every voice is heard, and together, we create a place where everyone can thrive. Welcome to our family.

Hera House

Hera House is a small independent school offering placements for students with EHCP’s, aged 5-14, for up to 40 students. Our values are Honesty, Empathy, Respect and Acceptance, and we aim to deliver a broad range of learning experiences through a flexible and adaptive approach, in order to meet students’ individual needs. We are also part of national initiatives, such as Thrive and the Quality of Life network, which emphasise independence, emotional development and social skills.
